Dr. Vishwapati Trivedi

Dr. Trivedi held a wide range of senior positions in the Government of India and abroad during a long career of service spanning 45 years. In the Indian government, he served as secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, secretary of the Ministry of Mines, special secretary and financial adviser in the Ministry of Home Affairs, chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority, chairman and managing director of Indian Airlines, and joint managing director of Air India. Outside India, he served at the International Monetary Fund, Washington D.C., as the adviser to the executive director.

Dr. Trivedi is a lawyer and serves as a member of the board of the Indian Council of Arbitration. He is also a trained economist having completed his MSc in economics from the London School of Economics and his PhD in international economics from the Simon Fraser University, Canada. During his post-graduate studies, he developed an econometrics-based model to study the trade of goods and services. His model was adopted by both the governments of India and Canada. In addition to his role with Speyside in India, he advises the Logistics Sector Skill Council, under the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India.
