Speyside Group strengthens its Mexican office with two new policy appointments

Speyside Group, a leading global emerging markets corporate affairs and public policy consultancy, today announced the appointment of two additions to their policy team in Mexico: Thelma Camacho and Isaías López. These appointments are to support the continued fast growth in core specialist sectors including food & beverage, disruptive technologies, automotive, and electrical-electronic manufacturing.

Thelma joins the Mexican team as Government Affairs & Public Policy Consultant and based on her vast experience in the public sector will provide comprehensive and on-the-ground support to foreign investors and multinational companies from diverse sectors, tailored solutions to address political or regulatory risks, and timely and useful information regarding evolving political and economic trends in the country.

Thelma worked as Economic Advisor to former high-level officials at the Mexican Ministry of Economy, where she was in charge of coordinating the development of key projects related to Mexico’s international trade negotiations, foreign direct investment allocation, consumer protection activities, industrial innovation policies, and entrepreneurship promotion. Furthermore, as part of the team in charge of conducting the international trade negotiations of Mexico, she was involved in the Technical Barriers to Trade and Regulatory Coherence Chapters of several agreements. At the General Bureau of Standards, she gained insightful knowledge in the Mexican technical regulations, standards, and conformity assessment ecosystem. In these positions, she had the opportunity to be the representative of Mexico before international and regional fora, including the World Trade Organization, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the International Organization for Standardization, and the Latin American Integration Association.

Isaías, the Public Policy and Government Relations Director, brings extensive experience in lobbying, strategic communication, and regulatory compliance. He has worked in both the Executive and Legislative branches of government, where he not only crafted speeches for high-profile political leaders but also drafted and assessed legislative proposals on various topics.

Prior to joining Speyside, Isaías worked at the Mexican Ministry of Economy, where he contributed to the design and evaluation of public policies targeting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as reviewing Venture Capital and Microfinance programs.
