Healthcare
Public Policy

A pharmaceutical company partnered with Speyside to improve awareness around hemophilia in Mexico, focusing on the challenges of treatment adherence. Speyside assessed the healthcare landscape, mapped stakeholders, and led educational initiatives to build advocacy capacity. The project produced a strategic policy brief, hosted symposiums, and launched an ambassador program. As a result, it identified key barriers, strengthened patient organizations, and laid the groundwork for sustained advocacy and improved health outcomes.

Background

A multinational pharmaceutical company partnered with Speyside to increase disease awareness in Mexico, with a focus on the critical role of therapeutic adherence in hemophilia treatment. The first phase of the project sought to assess the healthcare landscape and identify the main barriers to treatment adherence, providing the foundation for a strategy to raise awareness, strengthen patient advocacy, and ultimately improve health outcomes.

Approach

Speyside assessed the healthcare landscape and identified the main barriers to treatment adherence through stakeholder mapping and policy analysis, providing a clear evidence base for targeted advocacy for a National Hemophilia Policy. The team developed a concise one-pager with core messages and organized educational sessions to strengthen patient group capacity, while also implementing symposiums and launching an ambassador program to expand awareness among both the public and healthcare professionals.

Impact

The project delivered a clear understanding of Mexico’s healthcare policy framework and identified the key stakeholders shaping hemophilia care. It revealed critical gaps and challenges in treatment adherence, offering clear intervention pathways. Relationships with patient organizations were strengthened, enhancing their capacity and aligning their efforts with influential stakeholders. The resulting partnerships significantly elevated awareness of hemophilia, empowered sustained advocacy, and laid the foundation for long-term improvements in patient adherence and outcomes.
